Experience Description

I went back to my hotel room because I was tired and having chest pains. I laid on the bed to sleep. My wife and friends continued gambling in the casinos, into the early hours in the morning.

I remembered looking down at myself from the ceiling. I wasn't there very long but felt myself travelling through a tunnel at an acceleratingly fast rate, getting faster and faster towards a super-bright light. The feelings/emotions that I was experiencing were extremely strong. I felt happiness, joy, and love. There was a perfect harmony about it. I have never had such wonderfully strong feelings like that ever before. It was like 100% true Happiness.

At one point, I felt if I continued with this experience any further that it would be impossible to return into my earthly body. I started thinking that I didn't want to leave my wife alone forever at this time. We had just gotten married a little over a year ago. I did not want her to die of a broken heart. So, I decided to return to my human body. It was difficult to do this and I had to fight hard to return. Just when I was about to give up, I was back in my body.

I came back to consciousness thinking about what had just happened and realized I had an out-of-body-experience. I wondered if my wife and I did not have such strong LOVE for each other if I would not have made it back. But this line of thinking quickly changed when I thought about the true, perfect harmony that was the most loving, happy, joyous feeling that I have ever had felt. It was such a super-special feeling that I probably wouldn't feel again in this lifetime, but I gave it up for the love of my wife. (We're still together)

The next day, it was like nothing ever happened and I went back to normal life. Occasionally, I tell this story to relatives during the holidays. This happened in the early 1980s and I totally remember like it happened last weekend. This is amazing to me, because now I'm 64, and I lose my cell phone at least once a month.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Uncertain. I was tired and having chest pains.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes I was viewing my body from the ceiling just before I left into the tunnel. I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? When I was fighting to get back into my body

Were your thoughts speeded up? No

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning. It felt like I was travelling 100,000 miles per minute but on the other hand, I was not moving at all.

Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I knew everything that was happening and also I knew actually what needed to be done to make this happen

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. It was like a slight echo or a humming sound and I heard or felt that I was travelling rather fast through the bright tunnel

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? Yes, but the facts have not been checked out

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Yes The emotions in the tunnel were 50x more intense than anything here on earth, so I'm not afraid when this happens to me again.

Did you see any beings in your experience? No

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? No

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes Super bright glow and I think this light was God himself

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realm. I was in a special tunnel, travelling in hyper-drive warp speed. This wasn't made by man.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? I felt all of the best of our good emotions more stronger and loving then here on earth. This was true Happiness, joy, and love

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Incredible peace or pleasantness

Did you have a feeling of joy? Incredible joy

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt united or one with the world

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? Everything about myself or others. It's hard to say but I got the general idea of what's happening. Still our brains are not capable to fully understand the total plan

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a definite conscious decision to return to life. I fought like hell to come back. I feel if there was not true love here on earth, that it would not of happened

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I heard a voice I could not identify. I just felt the presence of god. I felt if I had gone on and completed my journey, I'm sure there would have been some communication

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)? Yes I was thinking it was the super bright glowing warm light that I was travelling towards

During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? Yes I believe that bright warm glowing light was the man
