Experience Description

I arrived at work not feeling well, but not bad enough to miss work. After our morning safety meeting, I went to our work area, I started experiencing major chest pains. My work partner called for medical assistance and an ambulance. I arrived at the emergency room with pains coming and going. Later I found out that there was a 60% blockage in four arteries in the bottom of my heart.

While experiencing the worst episode of pain, my reality changed. I became calm and my environment was clean. A door opened in front of me. My wife, who passed in 2007, was on the other side of the door. She looked just as I last saw her when she was alive. She told me that she loved me and that it was not my time. She then closed the door.

Next thing I remember is being rushed through the emergency room, to the cardio/catheter lab. People were screaming that I was dying as they got me ready for surgery. I woke up days later.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Heart attack Life threatening event, but not clinical death. Multiple heart attacks (appx 8) over a two hour time span.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes It was REAL!!! I lost awareness of my body

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal. I became more aware of things around me. Time slowed, my hearing became more acute, and my vision was clearer. I saw everything while they prepared me for surgery. The doctors were arguing over what to do, what instruments to use, and the nurse was yelling at them to proceed or I was dead.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? After seeing my wife.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? No

Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. VERY clear and precise. I normally wear glasses, but didn't need them.

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? Yes, and the facts have been checked out

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? No

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes My wife was and is a Christian.

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes Pure light, clean and even. There were no shadows as everything had crisp definition.

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realm. A unworldly realm peaceful and welcoming.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Total Calm and PEACE and Love from my wife.

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Relief or calmness

Did you have a feeling of joy? Happiness

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt no longer in conflict with nature

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? Everything about myself or others. I felt the pain of loss for my family.

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will. My wife told me it was not my time to pass through the door.
