Experience Description

On 2nd of February I had to go under general anesthesia for surgery but something went wrong as my heart stopped. I just got out of that state of unconsciousness to being aware that I found myself floating above the surgery room. I was surprised that I seemed to have no weight at all. I was very light and movement was very easy compared to the physical movement. I looked down and saw my body and the doctors working on me, heard them yelling, 'We are losing him!'

They struggled to get me back to life and I was so confused thinking, 'Wow, why do they bother? I don't need my body I'm fine, actually better than before.' It sounds funny because for them it was a life-threatening situation but I was so calm and relaxed up there suspended in the air that I thought, 'This is death? How can I see if I have no eyes?' I then saw a bright gentle light coming down on me from the ceiling, it filled me with happiness, and love that I never felt on earth - I completely became addicted to it was so powerful. I let myself be involved in it, like I was bathing in pure euphoria, I never thought and cared anymore about my worries or fears about the errors I made in my entire lifetime. But then something was odd, I noticed the medical team voices getting annoying and more loud and clearer. They were disturbing me, kept saying, 'Come on kid, don't give up on me.' I knew that my journey was ended I needed to go in my body and I was not pleased about it.

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning Time and space seemed to be insignificant.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes I saw a light it was very bright but gentle not blinding.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Like I said in my description, intense happiness and love.

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Uncertain It was weird, it seemed so simple at the time it occurred.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes Only a few family members, colleagues and a close friends.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Yes But I didn't believe them.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real I keep asking myself, why do we have to live this earthly life?

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real I really saw my body from above during OBE.

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? Uncertain I was under general anesthesia.

Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experience? Death is not supposed to scare anyone.
