Experience Description On March 28, 2005, I was overdue to have my son, so I went to the hospital to be induced. My son had to be delivered by emergency c-section. He was having heart deceleration from his umbilical cord being wrapped around his neck several times. I had to have a spinal block because the epidural failed to work. Unfortunately, the spinal block went wrong too. After the anesthesiologist did the procedure, I couldn't breathe, speak, yell, or make a noise to get the attention of the doctor or nurse, to alert them to what was happening. I kept going in and out of consciousness. At some point, they realized something wasn’t right. The anesthesiologist picked up my arm and told me to keep it up. I couldn’t do it and my arm fell straight down on the table. The medical staff went into panic mode. The doctor immediately gave me oxygen and put me under general anesthesia. I woke up in the operating room and the anesthesiologist was removing the breathing tube from my mouth. I fell back asleep since I was exhausted. Suddenly, I was out of my body. I could see the nurse with my son and father. We were now in a recovery room. I was transported in a flash to a place where beautiful light was everywhere and it seemed endless. My first thought was, 'I’m home!' It was familiar, peaceful and loving, and the place I have been searching for my entire life. I didn’t have a body but I was aware I was me. I was a sphere of energy. I know I had a choice to stay here or to go. I knew that I wasn’t done with my earthly life and I still need to complete my life’s purpose. I didn’t know what it was, but it was something meaningful. I also knew my loved ones wanted to share this sacred space with me but it would change my mind about going back. I felt love like never before in this life but very familiar in that realm. I woke up to machines going off and the nurse over me. She calms down as my eyes open up. Finally, I get to see my beautiful, baby boy for the first time with human eyes. His father was sitting in a chair next to my bed and trying to feed him a baby bottle that the hospital gave him.
