Experience Description

It was the end of the day on my fourteenth birthday. I was getting together a music band with a couple of friends. We had arranged a meeting at my house, where we would have a party. In the garden of my house we had installed a speaker, which was plugged into an electrical connection. My hand closed on the wire and, shocked, I fell onto the lawn. My friends, who witnessed all of it, thought it was a joke and were laughing. I felt the current all through my body like a strong buzzing. I couldn't move.

I knew I was about to die. I felt anguish for my parents, who were inside the house, and who would soon see my corpse lying in the grass. But my feelings soon changed, as my anguish developed into feelings of peace and love. I felt a powerful happiness and a sense of knowing where I was going.

I knew the place where they were sending me. I stopped thinking about my parents and about the world. Nothing was important except that feeling of love and of knowing I was returning home to my true life. There was a six-foot wall at the edge of the lawn that divided our house from our neighbor's. On this wall, I saw a light starting to grow. It was like a brilliant golden egg that was expanding, creating a tunnel of light. And at the same time my sense of security and of knowledge were growing. Everything became clear to me in all respects. A black figure wearing a cape, or a mantle, appeared, backlit by the light in this rotating tunnel. I knew that he had come to look for me. I felt happier than I had ever felt in my entire life.

Suddenly everything went out. I awoke in my father's arms as he was rushing me into the house. I tried to tell him that I was euphoric. I tried to say what had happened, but he just hushed me. I fainted once more. I woke up in my room, reclining in bed. My father asked me what had happened, so I tried to tell him what I had seen—but then didn't remember what I had seen!

I will never forget that feeling of peace and happiness. I had never been so happy as I was in this experience, nor have I ever felt that way since.

Did you feel separated from your body? Uncertain. It could have been a voice, that calmed me down. It is a feeling.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal. I knew my origin. Everything had an immediate answer. I knew everything that was happening in the whole universe.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? At the final moment it was as if my consciousness was expanded and speeded up.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning. The experience didn't last more than 30 seconds, but I perceived it in a state without time, throughout everything that I felt.

Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. Yes it was my eyes that saw Him. I remembered the grass in front of the tunnel of light. I was thrown down on the grass upside down, and I saw the wall through the grass.

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? Everything about the universe I saw the distances of the universe, the origin of life, and my destiny. I understood the journey.

What was your religion prior to your experience? Christian- Catholic

Have your religious practices changed since your experience? Yes A more practical religion.

What is your religion now? Muslim. I deepened my religion, as I prepare for death.

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was entirely not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience. I was age 14 and it was 1969. I had not studied anything like this and the best thing was to never speak about strange things in those years.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes The search for knowledge.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin. I saw a black figure in the background. It was as if it was wearing a cape or a mantle.

During your experience, did you gain information about an afterlife? An afterlife definitely exists. I knew where I was going. I was returning to home, without doubt to my life after this dream.
