Experience Description

This is a recount of what my mother told me of her near death experience that occurred over 20 years ago. I do not know the details surrounding her situation. I do not know all of the details of her NDE. From what she told me, she experienced the bright light and beauty and happiness like never before. She was taken on travels to other planets and other places. She explained the feeling of wanting to stay there. She had an escort, but did not think it was someone she knew in her earthly life. She was told that she would have to come back to her life on earth as she still had things to do. This made her sad because she so wanted to stay where she was.

She kept this all hidden for many years but did tell me this much of what she experienced.

My mother passed on just six months ago and my only comfort is that she was reunited with the place she didn't want to leave.

Since her death, my sister was visited in a dream by a white cat (my mother loved cats) and the cat told my sister that dying was not painful.

More consciousness and alertness than normal From what I was told, it was hard to put into words what she was experiencing and feeling. It was great love and wonder.

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning She felt that she had been on her journey for a long time - however it was not long enough.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? From what I was told, it was a feeling of love and complete happiness.

I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will It may have been a barrier, but I was told that her guides explained that it was not her time and she had to return as there were people who needed her and things left for her to do.

She had a guide or perhaps guides that escorted her on the journey.

After the NDE:

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes My mother was unable to explain most of what she experienced.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I do not know how my remembrance of the experience compares to my remembrance of other life events at time She remembered it until her time of death. About a month prior to her dying she was fearful of what death would bring and she was afraid of leaving her family. She asked us what we thought happened and I told her I thought it was going to be like her experience and that she would not want to come back here. She was very reflective on this and chose to share her story with a pastor at the hospital. Though the pastor was very intrigued and said he would return to speak with her again, he never came back.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes It was quite a few years before she shared the experience. She said she was not sure how others would react, and I think she was also very private with such a personal event.
