Experience Description

I was taken ill on 01/31/2021 and wound up in hospital. I was diagnosed with atrail fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) and dilated cardiomyopathy. I was admitted to hospital because my blood pressure was so high 197/149 with a resting heartbeat of 248. The doctors said that if I had left my condition untreated another hour I probably would not be here now. I was given a blood-thinning injection and various medications to bring everything down to a safe level.

Once I was released from hospital, I had many follow up appointments and was told that some of the medications were not working for the atrail. After further consultation, we discussed about me having a DC cardioversion procedure, stopping and restarting my heart to get the rhythm to where it should be.

On 9/21/2021 I was admitted into hospital again to have the procedure done. I was waiting in the hospital bed waiting to be taken away. I was nervous, but other than that, pretty normal. The hospital porter came, got me and wheeled me down to the room where I was going to have the procedure done. The anaesthetist introduced himself and talked me through what he was going to do, and how he was going to administer the anaesthetic which would put me to sleep. When this was done, he told me to breathe in through the mask while he gave me an injection. I remember him counting down from 10. He got to six and I lost consciousness.

I do not know just how long I was out. I woke to being in a black void, just like space but without any stars. It was just pure blackness. I was wondering where I was. Before I had time to think, a jackpot machine-wheel appeared on my left hand side. It was turning slowly with around 7 pictures on it. I could not quite make them out. Then the wheel stopped on what looked like a beautiful summer sky, full of deep blue and with fluffy, pure white clouds.

Instantly, I was there. There was no transition, no tunnels, or lights. I was just there in an instant. I found myself in a desert of pure blue sky, and fluffy, white clouds all around me. I found myself drifting forward, being wrapped in such a feeling of love that I have never felt before. There was also a golden light around me; a lot like sunshine. As I was drifting forward, I could see a semi-circle of people coming closer to me. They did not have any features. I saw just white silhouettes in long, white robes. As I was drifting towards them, I felt an overwhelming sense of purpose and pure love. I knew in myself that I was there to find something out, but just as I was about to find out whatever it was, I was snatched back into the hospital bed. It felt like jumping off a 500-foot cliff on a bungee cord and reaching the end then being pulled back.

I woke instantly; feeling like I had been recharged. I had a go at the poor anaesthetist saying, 'What have you done? Why have you brought me back?' I told him what had happened and he said that under general anesthesia it is impossible to dream. I asked if my heart had stopped or if anything happened. But I did not get any reply to that.

Since this has happened, it has changed my whole life. I pray every day, and thank god every morning that I wake. I think twice before I do, or say anything now. I spent 4 weekends recreating what I saw that day. My mum has recently passed and I know in my heart that she is now in a beautiful place. We are only here briefly to learn some kind of lesson. Since this has happened to me, I am compelled to tell everyone that wishes to listen to reassure them that life does go on after death.

I spent a fair few weekends recreating what I had seen. The black background with the single spinning jackpot wheel are in the bottom left. I added those in when I created this image. The black background represents the initial black void that I was in. And the jackpot wheel was the one with 7 pictures in it as mentioned in my story.
