Experience Description I lived a different life during my time in the coma. I came very close to death. Even though I was only in the coma for a little over two weeks, it seemed like a lifetime of experiences. When I came out of the coma and to this day, I miss the people and places that I loved in that life. The emotions felt were incredibly intense. I have trouble dealing with the absence to this very day. There is a lot more detail but as I said, it was a lifetime of experiences and many chapters to the story. Only two times during this experience did I feel fear. Background Information: Gender: Male Date NDE Occurred: 02/25/2019-03/12/2019 NDE Elements: At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Medically Induced Coma. Life threatening event, but not clinical death. Hemorrhagic Encephalopathy. How do you consider the content of your experience? Both pleasant AND distressing Did you feel separated from your body? Yes I could see the topography of the hills around the hospital. I had never been there before. I could see that winter was losing its grip on the area. These events were only brief. I lost awareness of my body How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal. Yes, After coming back, it feels wrong to be in this world. Nothing is as emotionally intense here. At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? During all of it. Were your thoughts speeded up? No Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning. Many chapters of my life experiences but I couldn’t tell what order they were in. Were your senses More vivid than usual? No Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. Same Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. Same Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere, as if by ESP? No Did you pass into or through a tunnel? No Did you see any beings in your experience? No Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes They were friends in a new life. It is hard to explain Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? No Did you see an unearthly light? No Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? Some unfamiliar and strange place. I can only explain it as a parallel word. I refer to it as going down the rabbit hole. It was normal at times and strange at others. What emotions did you feel during the experience? I felt all emotions in what I would describe as raw or intense; especially the love for the people and places. Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? No Did you have a feeling of joy? Happiness Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt no longer in conflict with nature Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? No Did scenes from your past come back to you? No Did scenes from the future come to you? No Did you come to a border or point of no return? No God, Spiritual and Religion: What was your religion prior to your experience? Unaffiliated- Nothing in particular- Secular unaffiliated. I was raised with the knowledge of the Bible but am not a believer. My experience was not religious. Have your religious practices changed since your experience? No What is your religion now? Unaffiliated- Nothing in particular- Secular unaffiliated. I'm not a conventional believer. Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Uncertain. It now feels that this world is the dream and the other is reality. Ever since I have been back, things feel wrong and go wrong. Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? No Did you see deceased or religious spirits? No Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)? No During your experience, did you gain information about premortal existence? No During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? No During your experience, did you gain information about the existence of God? No Concerning our Earthly lives other than Religion: During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? No During your experience, did you gain information about the meaning of life? No During your experience, did you gain information about an afterlife? An afterlife does not exist. An alternate world that was oddly different yet the same in many ways. Did you gain information about how to live our lives? No During your experience, did you gain information about life's difficulties, challenges and hardships? No During your experience, did you gain information about love? Yes I found that love could be experienced at a much deeper level. What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Large changes in my life Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? Yes The people I have told have been receptive but do not want to talk to me about it. They cannot conceive of what I experienced. After the NDE: Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes. I can not articulate my experience. It’s like trying to describe a noise to someone who is deaf or a color to someone who is blind. How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience. I remember all of the details but timelines are vague. Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? I feel deep remorse and missing people and places. Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes Two months. Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real. The memories and feelings did not fade with time. What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was probably real. I am currently confused about the whole thing. At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? No Are there any other questions that we could ask to help you communicate your experience? No
