Experience Description

After taking drugs, I went to sleep.

I was walking down a path and clouds covered the sky. I came to a large, brick building which looked eerie. There was a large, iron fence in front of it with a large iron archway. A dirt road led up the the archway. The scene had a Halloween feel with leaves on the ground and a feeling of autumn. Suddenly, I was tumbling violently as if I was in a dryer with no heat. There was a piercing, ringing noise as I stumbled faster and faster until I woke back up. My body was sitting upright, soaked in water and on the ground. There were people holding me upright, rubbing my back, and asking me if I knew who or where I was. It took me a second to be able to respond. I felt as if I was barely back into my body and was still tethering back for a couple minutes.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Accident Drug or medication overdose. Clinical death (cessation of breathing or heart function) I overdosed and was found by my roommate. I was not breathing, given narcans 3 times. CPR and other efforts were given before I came back to consciousness

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely distressing

Did you feel separated from your body? No. I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? Less consciousness and alertness than normal.

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes As I was tumbling back to what I can is my earth bound body. I saw only light and heard loud ringing

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? Some unfamiliar and strange place. I entered what was like an old asylum/cemetery with a massive, brick building, an iron gate and fence in a dark, cloudy setting which was quite eerie.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Was surely going to hell or a place like it

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will. Came to an iron gate. I had no choice in my return; I just got sent tumbling back

What is your religion now? Unaffiliated- Agnostic Believe in a god, Christianity but crossed with Judaism

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was entirely not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience. I did not believe in the afterlife and now I do
