Experience Description

I was admitted in the hospital for ulcerations inside the bladder. During the surgery, I could feel that I was coming out of my body, as if I was floating first next to it. I could see all the nurses in the room and they were talking very loudly. All the sounds were amplified, it was as if my conscience was everywhere in the operating room, I could hear and see all the very small and insignificant details, such as the sound of the tools, the noise of the machines, the steps of the people walking, it was a very intense and exhausting atmosphere. Then I had the sensation that I was sucked into another dimension, into a vortex that was spinning anti-clockwise, and I could hear many vocalizations with echo. The vortex was very colorful, bright colors such as red, pink, yellow and blue. The colors were very graphic, a little bit like looking into a kaleidoscope. What I remember is hearing strange sounds, like bells, siren, or chimes. For me this experience was not pleasant, because I could see a bright light at the end of the tunnel and I did not want to go there, I was seing pictures of my husband and I when we met.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely distressing

Did you feel separated from your body? No I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal The tunnel was a very profound and intense feeling that I was leaving something material, and I was entering something with no space or time, I was everywhere at the same time as if me and the tunnel formed one.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? When I was in the tunnel, it was as if time had stopped. It was a very intense feeling of being everywhere and nowhere.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning I felt like I was entering my natural stage of being, that I was connected. All my surrounding was very powerful.

Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. The hearing was very much amplified; I could hear vocalizations but no specific language. Also, I could hear sounds with deep echo such as sirens or chimes, I felt like the chimes were part of the vibration of the tunnel, I could not only hear the sounds but also sense them moving very rapidly and spread.

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere, as if by ESP? No

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Yes The tunnel was like an anti-clockwise vortex with many bright colors and graphic shapes. It felt similar to looking into a kaleidoscope, but with more vibrations, and light.

Did you see any beings in your experience? No

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? No

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? An unusually bright light

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes At the end of the tunnel, I could see a bright light, but not an aggressive light.

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? No

What emotions did you feel during the experience? I felt lost in one sense because I was thinking of my husband's pain if this journey had not ended and my little girl who still needed me. But on another hand, I felt like this journey was very natural.

What was your religion prior to your experience? Christian- Catholic I believe on a higher intelligence, that all is part of one, and that all is energy and communicating particles.

What is your religion now? Christian- Catholic After the experience, I believe that there is no doubt that there is something greater waiting for each human being.

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience I understood that i didn't want this to happen and this was not my place.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? No

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Slight changes in my life I understand that all is within us.

After the NDE:

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes The words are difficult to express because what you see and what you feel is the same thing, as if they formed one entity. I felt like I was part of the experience, that the universe and myself formed one. You understand what you see because you can feel it.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I do not know how my remembrance of the experience compares to my remembrance of other life events that occurred around the time of the experience I just remember as a child coming out of my body at night and float around the room and the ceiling.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? I want to be able to feel again this intense journey in my everyday life. i want to be able to sense energies and vibrations.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes only my husband.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was probably real I thought that I had some kind of mystic experience, but did not think about a NDE.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real it feels real because it was 2 years ago, and i can still feel it very intensely. The memory has not faded.
