Experience Description In 2016, I experimented with IV opiates for the first and last time. This was before everything was extra-poisoned with fentanyl. My experience was relatively short where I was. But in the real world, it was about 10 to 15 minutes. After the injection, I was fine. Then I started to experience things. I was in a VAST darkness. It felt as though I was standing in a dark room but at the same time, I didn’t feel my body. It was peaceful, no fear, and no recollection of what previously transpired. I had no memory whatsoever. I was just existing; I was just there. It felt as if my eyes where open, but without the need to blink. I realized I was in this space but had no immediate thoughts, like I was just watching. I felt an overwhelming peace. Out of nowhere, was the appearance of an imprint of lips. It looked as if someone was behind one side of the glass in a car window, and someone else kissed the outside of the window. The lips glowed with every color of the rainbow. It would appear for what felt like seconds, and before every disappearance, a shower of rainbow color would blow in a swirling pattern from the very edges. I remember looking and questioning, 'What is that?' and 'Where am I?' After asking that, I was resuscitated. Back in reality, I was cyanotic. The paramedics told me I wasn’t breathing for possibly 10 minutes. My friend breathing for me, saved my life. My friends later told me they threw me in cold water before alerting paramedics and giving me mouth to mouth resuscitation. I do not know how long I wasn’t breathing for, but I assume 5-15 minutes. However long it takes to be thrown in a bathtub, given CPR, and for paramedics to actually arrive. What I discovered myself and I believe, the 'lips' that appeared in rainbow hue where the lips of my friend pressing against mine, the shower of color was every breath she breathed into me. I asked her how many times she gave me breath, she said 4 or 5. That’s about how many times I saw this apparition. I was obviously successfully brought back with narcan and that is where my experience ended. After the experience, nothing outstanding changed except I developed the aversion to drug experimentation. I suspect this was due to the realization in my soul that there is something after we die. I no longer am afraid of dying. But I have never forgotten that darkness, and the colors of the breath of life. Background Information: Gender: Male Date NDE Occurred: 04/13/2016 NDE Elements: At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Uncertain Drug or medication overdose Clinical death (cessation of breathing or heart function) I don’t understand the question. The associated life threatening event was a drug overdose. How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant Did you feel separated from your body? No I lost awareness of my body How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? Less consciousness and alertness than normal In normal consciousness, you have memory. In the moment of my experience, I had no memory. I was just existing in this space. At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? I can’t say for sure. It feels like upon entering the dark space, it was like I was watching a movie at first. Just watching, no thoughts, and then after the rainbow lips appeared, I felt a schism between the 'watching' and immediately questioning what is happening. Were your thoughts speeded up? No Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Time seemed to go faster or slower than usual. The time I spent observing the darkness felt longer than what was happening in reality during the resuscitation attempts. Were your senses More vivid than usual? No Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. Prior to the experience I had normal vision, during the experience it felt as if I was in a dark room, but my eyes felt like they were open. But at the same time, I didn’t register I had eyes or a body. Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. Prior to experience I had normal hearing, during the experience I heard complete silence. Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? No Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Uncertain. I am unsure if the dark space was the tunnel or not, but I didn’t have a transition from body to the space, my consciousness was just there all of a sudden. Did you see any beings in your experience? No Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? No Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin Did you see an unearthly light? Uncertain If rainbow colored lips count, yes. I am colorblind, but in that space I could see every color of the rainbow as vivid as I can possibly imagine them. I actually compare colors I see now, to the memory of my experience. Colors are dull in this world compared to the experience. Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? Some unfamiliar and strange place I could feel the darkness was different then a dream. I knew I was somewhere else. What emotions did you feel during the experience? At first just a very good feeling, peaceful. When I started questioning what was happening, there was no panic, it was still peaceful. It’s difficult to explain. I felt like I should be afraid in the moment, but it just felt good and ok. I didn’t experience any happy or sad feelings. It was peaceful and at the same time a matter of fact. I’m here feeling, like 'this is happening and I’m here for the ride.' Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Relief or calmness Did you have a feeling of joy? No Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? No Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? No Did scenes from your past come back to you? No Did scenes from the future come to you? No Did you come to a border or point of no return? No God, Spiritual and Religion: What was your religion prior to your experience? Unaffiliated- Atheist Have your religious practices changed since your experience? Yes I am more open to spiritual things and thoughts now. What is your religion now? Unaffiliated- Agnostic. I was Atheist before, now I am Agnostic. The experience didn’t make me religious, but has made me more spiritual. Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes Post event I believe in existence after death. Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? No Did you see deceased or religious spirits? No Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)? No During your experience, did you gain information about premortal existence? No During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? No During your experience, did you gain information about the existence of God? No Concerning our Earthly lives other than Religion: During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? No During your experience, did you gain information about the meaning of life? No During your experience, did you gain information about an afterlife? Uncertain I wasn’t faced with outright signs, but it was a feeling happening at the same time as the peaceful feeling. I just…knew This wasn’t normal. Did you gain information about how to live our lives? No During your experience, did you gain information about life's difficulties, challenges and hardships? No During your experience, did you gain information about love? No What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Slight changes in my life After the NDE: Was the experience difficult to express in words? No How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience That is the only experience I honestly remember from that time frame. It was an unforgettable experience. Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? The realization that I saw my friends lips touch me, and I saw her breath enter me as rainbow colors. It was beautiful and I remember like it was yesterday. Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes I shared it the same day I experienced it. Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Yes My mother had a stroke, and a very powerful NDE. Leaving her body, speaking with a Being, refusing to go with him, and being told she can return but she had to change her life. Upon returning to her body, she remembers a 'zooming' feeling, and returning from space, to earth, to building, to body. Her experience did not affect mine, as I believe I had a very minor one compared to her. I will submit her story with her as well. What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was probably real. A piece of me wants to knock it as perhaps a hallucination from the overdose, but when I think about the feeling it gave me, it wasn’t a hallucination. What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real. Same as above, the experience was real. It was a strange feeling but at the same time a knowing. At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? No Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experience? I have experimented with hallucinogens, this was not comparable to any drug I have ever experimented with, this was real to me. h5lxom6
