Experience Description

I was with my little brother and we were looking over an embankment. My footing slipped on the grass and I began falling. I was grabbing at grass to break my fall.

While I was falling, I was rolling down the grassy side. I was scared I was going to die. MY LIFE FLASHED BEFORE ME. My fall was broken by a platform that was built to support a pump that supplied water to our house.

I hit my head on the pump and didn't care because I was saved by that platform. There was a ladder there and I climbed back up it. At age 8, there isn't much of a life to review. My experience made me realize that someone was looking out for me. I also realized my foolishness could have tempted my little brother, who was close to the edge and he could have died because of me.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes 'Life threatening event, but not clinical death' I was standing on the edge of a cliff looking over the edge and I slipped and fell. There was a creek bed at the bottom and I could have been killed.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely distressing

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? While rolling down the hill and having my life flash in front of me. How fast my life review was.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Time seemed to go faster or slower than usual It sped up.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. My little brother kept warning me to stay away from the cliff and I did what I wanted. I was totally surprised when I fell.

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? No changes in my life No changes in my life. I have had numerous spiritual experiences throughout my life. I have seen ghosts and have had a vision into a past life. I have had visions into my future in this life. I don't think these experiences are due to that fall. I think they originated because of an abusive childhood. The abuse, I feel, heightened my senses making it possible for me to have spiritual episodes.

Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? Yes Yes My spiritual experiences tend to make me a loner because I don't want to be told I 'imagine' things. With internet, I am meeting people who will listen because they too have had spiritual experiences which include NDE's.

I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience The fact that I remember it as clearly today as I did at the time of the accident.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes I have had spiritual experiences throughout my life, but I don't believe they are as a result of my fall.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real I think I thought about how lucky I was that I didn't get seriously hurt or die.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real The fact it is something that happened to me and I still remember quite vividly.
