Experience Description

I was clinically dead for 65 minutes. The first responders did CPR for two hours and had to inflate my collapsed heart with a balloon through my femoral artery. My left lung had also collapsed. They said quote, 'I came in a body bag.' Even once they had me hooked up to machines, my heart was finally beating without CPR. I have burn scars even until today from the shock device. I suspect that I always will have those scars. It was touch and go until they did a brain scan for activity to see if I was brain dead. I suffered no brain damage. If it was not for the scars, I would show no sign that I had died.

I don't remember taking my own life with a very lethal dosage of drugs for my anxiety. I was on the cold beach that night. Luckily a passerby saw me. A police officer performed CPR for 20 minutes before the ambulance got there. My body had everything shut down except my metabolism, which was the only reason they didn't give up trying to resuscitate me.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

Did you feel separated from your body? No. I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal. We communicated through feelings. We all spoke, but not in words. It was flowing and natural. I can't explain better - it was love

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? I went somewhere else where time is not like it is here. It is a place where it is softly bright and softly warm. I was enveloped in love and surrounded by everyone who loved me. It was only after I awoke that I later thought about my family's faces. There were no faces but they weren't faceless. It's just a different way of seeing in a different place. I was on a boat surrounded by turquoise waters. There were tropical islands too. This scenery is not something In my life here on earth, that's for sure.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Faster than usual

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Time seemed to go faster or slower than usual. Time went faster. I spent four days there, but woke up to only two days that had passed on earth

Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. My vision was vivid. I felt and saw the warm, comfortable place. All senses were inexplicably linked

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere, as if by ESP? Yes, but the facts have not been checked out

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Uncertain. I do not recall a tunnel

Did you see any beings in your experience? No

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes After waking, I attributed them as family who had not passed. But it wasn't them. It was as if everyone who I had ever loved and loved me was there. If that makes sense? I know it doesn't, but that is what happened.

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin

Did you see an unearthly light? Uncertain. It was vivid when I was there

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realm. I described a small, rustic, white boat. There was a big, white yacht with wooden decking ropes for a sail. The people were edged in warm, white light. They were indistinct, like the ones with me who loved me. There were vivid colors of the water, tropical islands, and white sands.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Warm, comfortable, loved, and happy

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Incredible peace or pleasantness

Did you have a feeling of joy? Incredible joy

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt united or one with the world

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? Everything about myself or others. I reached understanding of death for myself and have feelings of what is happening around me to this day

Did scenes from your past come back to you? No

Did scenes from the future come to you? Scenes from my personal future Just feelings precognition as when I was a child a at times dreamt true.

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will I didn't want to awaken

What was your religion prior to your experience? Unaffiliated- Nothing in particular- Religious unaffiliated. No religious background but I have always been spiritual having dreams that had come true as a child preteen then they stopped.

What is your religion now? Unaffiliated- Nothing in particular- Religious unaffiliated

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience. I had no concrete beliefs

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Uncertain I'm sure that this reality will be balanced out after I leave it

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin. Beings and it wasn't a 'voice' as we experience here.

During your experience, did you gain information about premortal existence? Uncertain I feel that we all have but have no direct experience

During your experience, did you gain information about an afterlife? An afterlife definitely exists, There is more. I felt after that was limbo I am unsure what happens when you don't come back but certainly there was another stage more even

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes. I woke confused asking my sister why we weren't on the boat.
