Experience Description

The experience was very brief. I was aware of arriving on the 'other-side' where I was met by a huge, radiant angelic being of white light. It was a soft muted area, ethereal and cloud-like. The angelic being communicated telepathically that I was being given a choice about returning to my body or continuing onward. I understood that my body had just died. I replied telepathically that I choose to return to my body to continue my physical life as I still had things I wished to complete.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Accident. Illness 'Illness, trauma or other condition not considered life threatening' I was very ill with severe chest infection, high fever, living alone in a very isolated region.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

The experience included: Out of body experience

Did you feel separated from your body? No I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? All through the experience a crystal clarity and multi-level awareness that felt very natural.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning No sense of time, experience of the eternal now.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? More vivid than usual

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes In the cloud-like area: more like an energy that softly suffused everything.

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realm As above

What emotions did you feel during the experience? No actual emotions, more aware of experiencing the 'intensity'. I felt the pure love and intelligence of the angelic being.

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Relief or calmness

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt united or one with the world

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? Everything about myself or others This was more a knowing for which I don't have words.

Did scenes from the future come to you? Scenes from my personal future This came when I 'woke up'. I suddenly had a clear knowing that I had to move location (house) for my well-being.

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will as above

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was entirely consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience I'd already read Mich'l Newton's books plus my work as therapist, dream work and shamanic practice

The experience included: Presence of unearthly beings

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin A vast, white angelic-like being with a soft semi-transparent face, loving and kind. I felt this being knew everything about me.

Did you see deceased or religious spirits? No

During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? Yes this was simply known as a 'fact'

During your experience, did you gain information about the meaning of life? Yes not the specific details, however a clear knowing that there were other tasks related to purpose though the details were not recalled by my physical mind

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes 4 months later: no response

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Yes

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real I was feeling very depressed, very unwell after health problems associated with a head injury.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real I just know this was a real experience.
