Experience Description

My baby was not due until December, but my water broke and I went to the hospital. The baby was born at 1:19am on October 15th. My doctor pushed down on my abdomen to help expel the afterbirth. I remember blood shot all over the nurse and her uniform. I heard her tell the doctor that she didn't have a clean uniform and would have to go home to get one. The doctor was yelling 'Go get the oxygen'. All of this time I was thinking 'Just leave me alone'.

There was the most brilliant light I had ever seen. I felt so warm and loved. There was a golden ladder going into the heavens and you couldn't see the top of it as it disappeared into fluffy clouds up so high. Around the bottom of the ladder there were several Angels flitting about. I felt at peace and happy, and wanted to stay there.

I was then taken to a room so I could get some rest. When I woke up, a nurse was sitting by my bed. She tried to take my blood pressure but couldn't get a reading on my left arm, so tried on my right arm. Nothing. She went and got a different pressure cuff, and just could not get a good reading on me. The doctor came and they gave me several shots. I did not have one drop of blood on my pad. The doctor asked the nurse if anyone had changed my pad, she said 'no'. The last I heard, he was living in Oregon somewhere.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? I was very alert during the birth, and while I was experiencing seeing the ladder and the Angels I could hear the doctor and the nurse talking.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes They were Angels. There was no communication.

After the NDE:

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Uncertain I thought no one would believe me

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes It was maybe a couple of months. I only told a couple of people. I was afraid they wouldn't believe me. I really don't know if they were influenced or not.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real I kept thinking about it. I couldn't get it out of my mind. 48 years later I can still see it just as if it happened yesterday.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real I can remember hearing the doctor and nurse talking, while I was seeing the Angels, the ladder and the light.

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? No
