Experience Description

In 1994, I had an exploratory procedure in my throat.

I was obviously under anesthesia and became aware that I was in an unbelievably, peaceful space. I felt the sense of a presence that was close by but I could not see it. I could only feel it. I had the impression that the presence was female but I am not sure. This Being radiated love, warmth and calm. It seemed that the Being also emitted Happiness into the space we were in. It was incredible! I conversed with the Being saying telepathically, 'I want to come with you.' The presence responded by saying 'No, you have to go.' This same dialogue was repeated two or three times with the presence repeating that I had to go. The feeling of wanting to go with him or her was very profound. I was so deeply disappointed that I couldn't go with them.

After the very brief exchange of communication, I was awakened by one of the nurses who was frantically trying to bring me back to consciousness. I felt heavy, upset, and angry that she had disturbed me. I felt like I could have hit her as the situation I had just been in was so amazing! My experience was very brief but extraordinarily powerful.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin. Yes, there was a presence

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Slight changes in my life. For me, nothing has changed significantly in any way since my spiritual experience.

After the NDE:

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes The experience was ineffable because I knew the being was there, but I couldn’t actually see it. I could sense it. However, it was as though the Being was controlling every millimeter of space we were in with love, warmth, peace and Happiness. It seemed that the presence was beaming all those lovely emotions out from it and filling all the space we were in with it.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience. My experience was brief and easy to remember, however, as it was a good experience and very profound and spiritual I think that made it more indelible on my mind.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? I sincerely hope that there is an afterlife, as it will be great to see certain people and pets again - that is my wish

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes A couple of people said it may have been my guardian angel. I think that is very possible that the Being showed up to block me from going further.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? Yes. My knowledge did not affect my experience in any way, but I was, and still am, very interested in the paranormal

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was probably real. I truly think that I was stopped from going further because my time on earth was not complete. To me, it felt very real: More real than a dream.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real. It had such meaning and depth; it is difficult to explain

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? No

Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experience? I have wondered why I was blocked from moving on because I have had some very upsetting experiences, such as losing my partner to COVID. Perhaps, I was supposed to have these awful things happen to me to learn

Are there any other questions that we could ask to help you communicate your experience? Just to say that the questions predominantly refer to NDEs but I would say that my experience was, to me, more like a spiritual experience rather than an NDE.
