Experience Description

I was awake and driving from one job location to another; on the busy streets around the airport in Cairo, Egypt. I was in a hurry and the street was only two lanes in opposite directions. So, I tried to pass the truck ahead of me, only to find out that there was another truck heading straight for me from the opposite side of the street.

I was horrified and completely believed I was going to die. The next thing I knew, I was above the scene around 10 meters up. I was looking down at my car below as it was avoiding the collision and being driven safely through the two trucks. I was not afraid as I looked down. After my car had passed through the danger, the first thought I had was "Sh*#t, but who is driving?" Immediately, I was back in the car holding onto the steering wheel.

I was very confused by what had just happened and didn't understand it. I was wondering if I was supposed to die? Was I imagining things? And most of all, I wondered who drove that car through those trucks, because it wasn't me!

I let the experience slip to the back of my mind and only understood it later when i heard about NDEs.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes I had aA close call by nearly having an accident. Life threatening event, but not clinical death. I was driving in a double lane street and almost got hit head-on by a truck coming straight at me from the opposite side of the road.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Neither pleasant NOR distressing.
I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? Normal consciousness and alertness. I didn't have time to ponder on that

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? Yes

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Time seemed to go faster or slower than usual. In my case, time seemed to speed up a lot

Were your senses More vivid than usual? No

Have your religious practices changed since your experience? Uncertain. After reading about NDEs and understanding what exactly had happened I believe a little differently.

What is your religion now? Muslim. I just believe in all religions as if they are pieces of a puzzle

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was entirely consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes That death is painful and takes time.

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Moderate changes in my life. They were not changes and maybe not a real NDE, but rather an out of body experience.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real. I was confused and didn't know what to make of it
