Experience Description I was in the hospital, giving birth. I was in an out of consciousness due to pain levels. They didn't want to give me anything for the pain because I already had a low platelet count and a high risk of hemorrhage. During this time, I kept seeing my 'soul' dog who had died in 2021. He was truly more of a child to me than a pet and his death was incredibly traumatic. He was right near my face and telling me to make my choice. I could go with him if I felt the time was right, or I could stay and fight for my son. I knew I had to stay to right the wrongs caused by the delivery team. Background Information: Gender: Female Date NDE Occurred: 7/17/23 NDE Elements: At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Illness Surgery-related. Childbirth. Life threatening event, but not clinical death. I was in labor and my platelet count dropped to below 80,000. At the time, we didn’t know that my pregnancy had caused a rare, life-threatening blood disease called TTP which was causing multiple blood clots through the small blood vessels and causing excessive platelet consumption. This meant I had a lack of oxygen to my vital organs. I had 2 mini-strokes and was taken to the emergency room for an immediate c-section to try and save both mine and my son’s life. How do you consider the content of your experience? Neither pleasant NOR distressing Did you feel separated from your body? Yes It was distant chaos around me but I didn’t feel affected by it. Although there were multiple people right in my face, I didn’t care. I clearly left my body and existed outside it How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? Less consciousness and alertness than normal. I felt people didn’t hear me, even if I was screaming At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? Before surgery Were your thoughts speeded up? Faster than usual Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning. I felt I was totally detached. Everything around me was almost slow motion but I had to make decisions fast Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I felt that I was seeing another realm compared to everyone else in the room. I saw things that they didn’t; it was like an extra layer of reality Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. It was very dull, all I could focus on was seeing my dog and hearing what he was saying to me. Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? No Did you pass into or through a tunnel? No Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes I saw my soul dog, Winston. Incredible peace or pleasantness Did you have a feeling of joy? Happiness Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt united or one with the world Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? Everything about the universe We are merely energy. Things exist on a frequency well beyond human understanding and once you’ve seen and felt that, it changes your entire human experience. Did scenes from your past come back to you? No Did scenes from the future come to you? No Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a definite conscious decision to return to life. I had to make a choice and I chose to stay on earth. It was very much guided to me as 'a fight' and I chose that fight. I could have stayed at peace and had an easier experience if I chose death but I fought to be with my son. My recovery was very hard and I knew it would be. God, Spiritual and Religion: What was your religion prior to your experience? No What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Moderate changes in my life After the NDE: Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes I have tried to explain to people who haven’t had NDEs and they don’t understand. They shrug and blame a multitude of reasons but I know what I experienced was real. It was visceral. How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience. I had weeks of treatment and recovery and that experience is the most memorable and significant. Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Uncertain I have always felt I had a spiritual gift and now I am certain of it. I am now pursuing support to harness these. Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? It showed me how powerful the human spirit is and how strong a mother’s love truly is. Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes I shared with my partner about 4 weeks later and he didn’t seem to believe me. But, I don’t expect anybody to, they haven’t experienced that depth of knowledge yet. So they can’t comprehend it. Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real. There is no doubt in my mind it’s real. It was too visceral not to be. I can recount it more clearly than meeting my son for the first time and that moment is something I wanted desperately. What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? No eqdre5k_nde
