Experience Description:

Saturday or Sunday night I woke up because my blood sugar was too low (hypoglycemia). I needed to get some sugar as soon as possible but I was so out of it I could scarcely walk. I instantly knew that this was the worst episode of hypoglycemia I had ever had. I had to act rapidly. After eating something sweet, I went down to the refrigerator to get a drink (my living room and kitchen are on the first floor). My blood sugars were still too low and it was very difficult to walk. When I reached the refrigerator, everything went black before my eyes.

The next moment I saw myself lying on my abdomen next to the refrigerator. I saw myself from up above (a bird’s eye view). What was notable to me were the colors. They were very intense and bright. I had a feeling of massive peacefulness with restful silence. I felt no fear at all. The colors in my surroundings were so intense. I simply saw where my refrigerator stands, and I was lying on the ground, but the colors were terribly clear, pure and intense. I felt so pleased and happy. I then felt myself slowly descend toward my body and I suddenly came back. I found myself lying next to the refrigerator on my abdomen. I got up with difficulty and slowly walked back to my bedroom because I was totally exhausted.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Illness Te lage bloedsuikers (hypoglycemia) Other Te lage bloedsuikers (hypoglycemia) Hypoglycemia. I had been diabetic for 3 years. My blood sugar was so low I could scarcely walk.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Wonderful

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal Very intense, bright and pure colors observed. A feeling of intense happiness and joy.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? The whole time.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Time seemed to go faster than usual I felt like it lasted only 20-30 seconds, but when I came in and looked at the clock it appeared that I was gone for at least 1 hour.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more so
