Experience Description

I was in surgery for a cervical fusion from a broken neck several months prior. I remember the doctor counting me backwards from a hundred not very far like ninety-four or something. Then I felt cold air bellowing my gown and I was in a very dark place floating. Looking down I saw myself in a hospital gown lying on a ping-pong table (I played ping-pong a lot back then). The area around the table and me was very bright but all else was darkness, it was like a circle of bright light with the table me and some doctors and nurses doing something to me. I remember I could hear my dad saying everything was going to be all right. Then all of a sudden, I was falling towards the table, it seemed very far away but I was falling very fast almost instantaneous and then I hit and actually felt like I fell and landed hard. I didn't see anything after that but a heard a man yelling at me saying, 'Mike stay with us! Come on Mike!' Then it felt like someone had a hook inside my throat and around the back of my neck and they pulled it real hard.

The next thing I remember was coming to in recovery.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning The falling seemed to take forever but I was going so fast.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Uncertain Kind of but it was like the tunnel was below me on the table and was falling into it but when I got there it was like thud.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? At first it was cool floating around checking it out but it became terrifying towards the end.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? Not really, it was just weird, I have always thought of it kind of like a dream but my normal dreams are sort of watching a movie through my eyes I was totally immersed in this one.
