Experience Description

In October 2022, I fell into a coma due to long-term insomnia.

I had a serious insomnia problem. But, I ignored this condition at the time and did not sleep at all until the last week. I quickly called an ambulance, but then I passed out. It was 7 o'clock in the morning at my residence in Tokyo, Japan.

In the last moment I was awake, I felt the world was spinning and my heart was uncomfortable. I had difficulty breathing and there were stars in front of my eyes. After I fainted, I only felt that those feelings were moving away from me.

I thought at the time; I was afraid I was going to die. Then I seemed to see the figure of my father, but my father had passed away more than ten years ago. I still hear his voice. I didn't say anything, but I wondered in my mind if I had to go. But it was like a consciousness came to me and said strongly, 'No, you can't leave because you have unfinished work.' I woke up later in the hospital emergency room.

The impact of this incident on me is that I no longer let some diseases go unchecked. I was originally a very nihilistic person. Later, after this experience, I understood the value of my existence; because after all that time, I was told by that consciousness that I couldn't leave.

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes I saw my dad, but he had been dead for over ten years when this happened.

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes When I fainted, I probably couldn't see anything, but I always felt bright.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? A little nostalgic, mostly peaceful.

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will. I thought I might have to leave. I also saw my dad and wanted to leave with him, but that consciousness told me, 'You can't leave.'

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes It's hard for me to tell you why consciousness is talking to me.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? 。

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes I told some friends. In fact, before the ambulance was called, a friend urged me to call it; otherwise, I wouldn't have. I am grateful to that friend. Afterwards, I told her about that experience, including seeing deceased loved ones and hearing those words, and she said, 'Wow, you were really on the brink at that time.' Then our conversation ended.

Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experience? I used to be super afraid of death because I felt like I was worthless. But this experience confirmed my value to me. I was quite surprised, so I will live well for a while.
