Experience Description

I had a severe flu. I also had diabetes, but didn’t know it yet. This made my flu even more crippling and I was sleeping most of the time, as it was a struggle even to try to open my eyes.

At some point, I passed through a tunnel that was silver in color. I was moving at a very high speed. There were many other souls there and there was a very strong light at the end of the tunnel. I reached the light, which I thought was coming from the sky. I knew I had to exit the tunnel. Meanwhile, I felt a female presence next to me. She gave me a message, but not with words. Her message was, 'Don’t worry; I am protecting you.' Suddenly, I found myself floating in the sky. It was a very beautiful scene. Below me was a very beautiful and calm sea. I saw beautiful, white clouds in a sky that was a nice blue color. This scenery was so clear and vivid, beyond anything that I had ever experienced. The air was very fresh and nice. I felt completely safe and was enjoying the whole experience. I was on something that was like an expensive rug or a huge butterfly. That female presence was still next to me and I was happy she was there with me. My field of view did not have dimension or limits.

Suddenly, I returned to my body. Immediately after waking up, I felt like I had been in the sky. I was amazed, but couldn’t understand what had happened. I convinced myself that it must have just been a dream, but it was different from any other dream I ever had. A few months later I accidentally came across the NDE of Dr. Eben Alexander, who used to be a neurosurgeon. I saw many similarities to my experience, and realized that I must have had an NDE as well.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Illness. Other: I had a severe flu. I was sleeping almost for two days and couldn’t open my eyes.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes. I lost awareness of my body

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? Normal consciousness and alertness. I had no recollection of the past, or maybe I don’t remember it. But I was fully aware.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? In the tunnel, I was thinking about my children. But in the sky, I had no recollection of my Earthly life and was not thinking of anyone.

Were your thoughts speeded up? No

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning. I suddenly found myself moving very fast in this tunnel, and then suddenly found myself in the sky. I don’t know how I went from being in the tunnel to being in the sky.

Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. My sight had no dimension, I could see up and down and sides and front.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I only heard the Female presence, not with my ears, but in my heart. She didn’t speak with her mouth either, maybe with her heart or eyes

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere, as if by ESP? No

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Yes. It was a round tunnel in a silver or grey color with a very strong light at its end. There were lots of souls that passed by me very fast and they were exiting the tunnel.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? No

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? No

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes at the end of tunnel.

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realm. I was in very beautiful and vivid nature with beautiful, blue sky and puffy white clouds. I saw a beautiful, calm sea with a very nice color. That place was very vivid and clear and I had never seen something like this.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? I felt peace, security, joy, and love

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Incredible peace or pleasantness

Did you have a feeling of joy? Happiness

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt no longer in conflict with nature

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? No. I could completely comprehend my surrounding environment

What was your religion prior to your experience? Muslim

Have your religious practices changed since your experience? Yes The spiritual world is not what most religious authorities describe. God is the source of love, compassion, peace and security.

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience. It is hard to answer this question.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes My view towards this world and the other world has changed.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin. She was a woman like all women, but didn’t speak with her mouth only, maybe with her eyes and heart.

Did you see deceased or religious spirits? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)? Uncertain

During your experience, did you gain information about premortal existence? No

During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? Uncertain

During your experience, did you gain information about the existence of God? Yes That woman who was with me was helping me and the way I went to the skies. All of this was help of a loving God.

During your experience, did you gain information about love? Yes I felt that it was all love and security and peace. It was a very desirable place.

What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Large changes in my life

Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? Yes This earthly life is not worth hate and revenge. We need to love each other. This physical life is painful and full of suffering for every one. Here we are living in a hell that we don’t recognize.

I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience. I don’t quite understand what you mean. I was just very sick.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? No

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? The other world is full of love and feeling of security.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes I was not quite sure the next day if my experience was real and thought maybe it was a dream.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definately real. I consider that experience very authentic and real. I felt like I have been there before. This was not like a dream.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definately real. When I woke up, I felt I was in the sky, I didn’t initially think I had been dreaming. There was a vividness and clarity in my experience that had never been present in any of my dreams.
