Experience Description

I felt light as I looked down and saw my body lying lifeless with my family around me. I saw the doctors working on my body due to coding in the room. I looked up and saw what appeared to be a bright, white light. I started to reach for it when two figures stopped me. One was an older man that had a stained shirt from food. The other person was an older lady who was holding a gourd in one arm and holding hands with the older man. My Nana and Papa were the ones that didn’t let me pass. I heard, 'It’s not your time, Rachel Rose' as I was softly pushed back into my body.

NDE Elements:

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Illness CPR given Life threatening event, but not clinical death. I went through diabetic ketoacidosis. I also went through sepsis, respiratory failure, pulmonary edema, ventilator and feeding tube and double pneumonia.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely distressing

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes. I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? Less consciousness and alertness than normal

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? When I was floating on top of my body and looking down, I couldn’t do anything.
