Experience Description

I had been fighting seizures for two years at this point. This day, I was on the phone with a friend after having a hard day. I was anxious. I remember my friend asking me to speak up. The next thing I remember is feeling an immense pain in my left arm. I was on the ground instead of the couch and I couldn’t move. My body started going cold as I asked myself 'Am I dying?' I saw myself on the ground and could even see that the laptop cord was almost wrapped around my neck.

Then I was soaring through what seemed to be clouds. I felt I was with or on an eagle who had been euthanized weeks ago at the veterinary clinic. I worked at. I knew he was bringing me somewhere safe, although I never saw him. I felt that I was with him.

The clouds opened up and I saw the most beautiful valley of green. I felt such Happiness. I felt all those who I loved who were there. Again, I cannot see these people. I just knew and felt a sense of calm and comfort such as I have never experienced before.

Then, I a saw darkness and a light. I saw things I had done in my life, and I also saw some things I was doing that I always have wanted to do but had not yet experienced. Then, it felt as if I were spinning. Then my daughter came into view and I thought about the repercussions if I went to the light. I knew she would never forgive herself if she knew she had a part in my passing. I knew I had to get back to my body. I needed to go back by focusing on the pain in my arm. I knew if I could find the pain, I could get back to my body and my daughter wouldn’t have to live with the guilt and pain my passing would have caused her.

On the other hand, I wish that I would have made the choice to go to the comfort, love and warmth that I felt with the light and in that beautiful green valley. I haven’t told many about this experience as I do not want to be looked at as a crazy person. I know have no fear of death but fear of four others who will be left behind. My life has forever changed since that day.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Illness Out of body experience. I had a seizure which made my heart rapidly beat. Then I felt an unimaginably severe pain in my left arm.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

Did you feel separated from your body? No. I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal. I saw and felt things that could not be easily explained

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? I feel once the cold went away and I felt warm whilesoaring through the clouds

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning. I am uncertain how long everything lasted. My brain still can not make sense of the timing.

Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I feel that my vision of the experience is just as vivid as the day it happened.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I do not remember hearing any sounds.

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere, as if by ESP? No

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Uncertain. I remember the clouds parting into the beautiful green valley. I'm not certain if that qualifies as a tunnel.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I sensed their presence

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? No

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? An unusually bright light

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes After my memories and life sped by, I then saw darkness with a light that seemed far away but also very close.

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realm. The clouds opened up to the green valley and then to the darkness with the light.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? At first I was frightened. Then I felt calmness and warmth; then Happiness, and then sadness when I knew I had to return for my daughter.

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Incredible peace or pleasantness

Did you have a feeling of joy? Incredible joy

Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt united or one with the world

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? Everything about myself or others. I saw who I needed to be as a person and realized I was not living the life I should be living.

Did scenes from your past come back to you? My past flashed before me, out of my control. I remember dancing in musicals and some of my childhood then my daughter.

Did scenes from the future come to you? No

Did you come to a border or point of no return? I came to a definite conscious decision to return to life. I knew somehow to find and return to the pain in my arm to save my daughter the pain of the loss.

Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was entirely not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience. Before this experience I had thought life and death was an on/off switch. I now know we do continue living once our bodies fail.

Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes To live a better life and treat others better as well.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? No

Did you see deceased or religious spirits? I sensed their presence

During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? Uncertain I felt that all beings in this universe are in this together.

I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience. The experience was vibrant and unforgettable in every way.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Uncertain I have had stand experiences since I was 12 after an appendectomy.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? Knowing we will all be together and happy in the end.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real. It felt as real as the day I am having today.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real It is still as vivid in my mind and the day it happened.
