Experience Description:

I was five years old. I had measles and very, very high fever. I was at home because they could not shift me to a hospital. The doctor was not too sure if I'd make it through the night.

What I was most aware and awestruck by was seeing myself in my bed. But it wasn't scary it was peaceful. I saw my grandma asleep in a chair next to me. I saw my parents in the next room asleep and my other grandma in the third bedroom asleep. The walls of the house were just not there. I was moving towards a beautiful bright light just like the moon but sending out long rays of light that I was going towards. I kept going higher and higher towards the light and saw myself and my family get smaller. Then suddenly my grandma woke up, opened her prayer book and started praying. Next thing I knew I was being sucked down towards my body and landed in with a thump. My parents say I was in a coma for about three weeks and couldn't even open my eyes.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal I could see more, feel the fear of my family, and I could see through walls as if they were not there.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? When I was closest to the light.

Were your thoughts speeded up? Neither

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Neither

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more so

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I could see more clearly and walls did not exist I could see past them.

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes A big bright light like the moon but with long rays which seemed to embrace me - I was following the rays to their source.

Was the experience difficult to express in words? No

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes I could somehow always know when something was wrong with a person I loved. Could on some occasions know before a person passed away. Now I am also a medium.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes As soon as I was well and could talk I told my mum, but nobody else. I somehow felt it was too personal and maybe unbelievable to share with others. Mum was amazed and very supportive - she still is. Now others do know, some close friends and my husband.
