Experience Description

I was in the hospital and suffering from Covid-19, pneumonia, diabetic ketoacidosis, and sepsis.

The day of the event, my condition significantly worsened. I was lying in bed and on my back. I was struggling to breathe. Each breath I took was a long, harsh gasp. Each breath came in intervals of 10 to 15 seconds. I remember the moment when I realized I was going to die. I took my last breath and remembered feeling an overwhelming sense of peace that came over me. All of my pain and discomfort was gone. I cannot confirm for sure, but I felt myself smiling with relief as I had been struggling for so long.

As I was lying there, I saw a dark outline of a doorway. The opening soon began to shine with a bright, unearthly white light. Out of the doorway came three heads that glowed even brighter than the light in the doorway. The head in the middle was higher than the two on either side. The heads had a human shape to them but there were no visible facial features. The heads floated towards me and hoovered over my body as I lay in the bed. I could hear voices whispering all around me; many I could identify of family members who had passed on. Suddenly the heads started to descend towards me and disappeared into my body. I then heard this very loud voice whisper in my ear saying, 'No, not yet. Just keep breathing!'

Then, I felt two hands cradle both my sides similar to the way you would pick up a baby lying on its back. I could feel fingers caressing up and down my sides for about 5 seconds. I could feel sn ineffable tingling in my sides. The whispering of the loved ones continued during this time. Suddenly, all was quiet. The three heads began to ascend from my body in the same order they went in when they first approached me. They slowly floated back into the doorway and vanished.

As soon as the heads vanished, my body sat straight up. A big gulp of air filled my chest, and I fell back into the position in which I was initially lying. I started to breathe again, but it was very labored and intense. The pain and discomfort returned but I had just enough strength to reach over to grab my phone and dial 911. As soon as I gave the operator my information, I was in and out of consciousness until I awoke in the emergency room.

Once in the emergency room, I was immediately taken to a room and was informed that labs had been drawn and confirmed that I had a positive for Covid, pneumonia, and a severe case of ketoacidosis. The emergency room doctor initiated ICU procedures there in the emergency room. He told me that at the time I arrived, I had approximately 15 minutes of life left in me. He told me that while my other issues were also of concern, he said that the ketoacidosis was killing me the fastest and needed urgent reversal.

I remember the moment when I stopped breathing and questioned why I was brought back. I questioned why I was relieved of my suffering only to be returned to it. I relive the experience almost daily and still wonder who those heads were. When I tell the story to others, I do not expect them to believe me. What I can say is that I do not care if they do or don't believe me because my experience was real. It is something I will never forget. I felt that I was brought back to fulfill my purpose and I am still trying to figure out what that is to this day.

Background Information:

Gender: Male

Date NDE Occurred: 01/30/2022

NDE Elements:

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes Covid-19, Pneumonia, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Sepsis Clinical death (cessation of breathing or heart function). I had been ill for over a week and the day before the event, I tested positive for Covid-19. I spent entire week in bed and was progressively losing my strength. I had no appetite and was unable to keep any food or drink in my body. I am also a brittle diabetic requiring sliding scale insulin and due to me eventually losing my ability to walk and my vision starting to fade, I could not dial the insulin pen to inject myself with any insulin the entire week. I was literally stranded in the bed struggling to breathe and too weak to even reach for the phone to call for help.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

Did you feel separated from your body? Yes When I was at the hospital, I clearly saw the same vision daily for nearly two weeks. There was a line of dead bodies standing in front of a trench and they were swaying back and forth. I could see them from the back. At the end was a girl and she would turn to me and tell me that they were all dead and were waiting for a doctor to give permission for them to be buried. I felt that the trench was meant to be a mass grave for them and could only speculate they may have died from covid but not here in the US. I asked the girl what her name was, and she said, 'I am called Emily.'
