Experience Description I have a seizure disorder. On October 22, 2023, after cleaning up from my grandmother's birthday party, I walked to meet up with a paramedic to buy a scooter. As I turned the corner, I had a seizure and lost consciousness. I fell, hitting my head on the corner of the sidewalk, that caused me to concuss and throw up. I inhaled my vomit. The paramedic kept pumping my chest until the on-duty paramedics arrived. They thought I had an overdose of some kind. My mother just happened to drive around the corner and saw me. She shouted that I had a seizure before they could give me narcan. At that moment, I saw everything from above my body. I remember my mom screaming and crying. I remember being seeing myself loaded up in the ambulance. I remember looking down on my body as they hit me with the paddles on two separate occasions. It was like back and forth up above me, then waking up. Then I was up above my body again. I was concerned of what was going on around me, but I remember the feeling of being numb. Then, I saw a familiar man in the corner of the ambulance. He was my grandmother's ex-boyfriend who passed away a year prior due to a heart attack. He was smoking a cigarette which really stood out in my mind. He said, 'You got and are going to have a full life ahead of you kid. Your family is going to need you, especially now.' This was odd because I never was close to him at all. Everything else is a blur. I woke up a few different times and remember some things. But, three days later I remember looking at my mom and asking her what happened. She told me that she repeat it any more because she had already told me 8 times. Every time she told me, I started crying. So, she grabbed my hand and told me again. I was always crying when she told me. I remember the doctors asking me my birthday and I didn’t remember. But, I recovered relatively quickly considering I had two separate episodes of cardiac arrest, which I found out about later. Sadly my grandmother passed away two months later on December 20, 2023. After I left the hospital, I went to the neighbor next door who watched me when my mom went to work. I’ve had several seizures since then but overall I’m about 85% better. What I’d like people to know about near death experiences is that before these incidents occurred, I was so scared of death. Afterwards, I recall that feeling of floating, no pain, Happiness, and warmth beaming down to me. Now, I feel that death is just the next chapter to life. I was very skeptical about religion. Now that I know there is another life after death, I can confidently say I’m a firm believer that life goes on.
