Experience Description

I wrecked my motorcycle after avoiding getting hit by a car. I was going over 140 mph when I flipped with the motorcycle three times before being launched forward and landing headfirst. Upon landing, the first thing I remember is the bright, warm light that felt so peaceful. I felt like no worries existed in the world. While bathing in the light, I was able to look down upon the scene of the motorcycle accident. I witnessing my friends hysterically panicking while looking over my body. I could see my body looking up at the sky with my bicep up and my arm facing down. I had road rash and blood everywhere. I felt such a peace while watching the situation, like it’s OK, I’ll be OK.

While watching the scene in the warm light, I heard of voice like an internal monologue. It wasn't my voice as it said, 'It’s not your time to have a reason.'

Then, I woke up, staring at the desert sky. Adrenaline hit me and I jumped to my feet. My friend freaked out, tell me that I hadn't taken a breath in about five minutes. Everyone was panicked and the only thing I could ask was about my bike. Once they told me that it wasn’t in good shape I asked them to pick up the parts and put them in their backpack. I needed to get to the hospital, so started my bike and tried to drive the 40 miles to the hospital. After about 25 miles, the adrenaline dissipated and I couldn't make it any farther. I had to catch a ride for the rest of the way to the hospital. After speaking to the doctor and getting MRIs and an x-ray, the doctor stated that I was his most lucky patient that day for being able to walk around. I was the fourth motorcycle accident that day, and the only one to survive. I truly feel that I’m here for a reason.

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Time seemed to go faster or slower than usual I felt like I was watching everything happen over a long period of time but my friends said it had been about 6 minutes.
