Experience Description I was being treated for diabetes in another country and travel once a month for treatments. Unknowingly, I had a bleeding ulcer. One night I passed out in the bathroom. My wife heard me fall on the floor. When I woke up, she told me what happened. She drove me to the hospital nearest to where I was being treated for diabetes, which was about 2 1/2 hours away. When we got to the hospital, I was told to go to the emergency room. I was still lying down. We requested a stretcher but was given a wheelchair by a Male nurse. I passed out. I heard a familiar woman's voice repeatedly say, 'He's not breathing' and also heard a man say, 'He's breathing.' The woman's voice came from our family friend who had accompanied my wife and I to the hospital. I felt no pain or concern. I was outside of my body observing the emergency room. All of the beds were full. So to make room for me, I saw the medical staff take a young girl, perhaps 7 years old, out of the room. At some point, it seems like I had been transferred to a stretcher. I could then see myself on a stretcher being rushed to be treated. I was surrounded by at least three nurses who were preparing the defibrillator. Then they were cutting my pants off lengthwise. Suddenly, I realized that they were talking about me. Then I was back in my body. I was desperately trying to move a finger. Shortly after that I succeeded and then was able communicate. It was a Wednesday. By Saturday they operated on me.
