Experience Description

My wife and I were getting ready to go and do some Christmas shopping. I stopped to plug in our web cam for security. Then I was walking down a dirt path toward a bright light. There were very tall green trees lining the path. It felt so warm and there was such a good feeling all around me. I could hear birds in the trees singing. Then I could hear my wife behind me yelling my name over and over. She sounded so far away. Finally, something told me to go back. I turned as in fast motion and I shot to her face. She was yelling for me to come back and pounding on my chest. I woke up 6 hours later in the emergency room wondering where I was.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes heart stopped Wife banged on chest to get it to start.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Entirely pleasant

The experience included: Out of body experience

Did you feel separated from your body? No I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal Everything was so bright and I felt so free and clear minded.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? The whole time I was on the path.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I have bad hearing and need hearing aids, but when this happened I could hear everything clearly.

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes I was walking toward a bright but warm revolving light at the end of the dirt path.

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Warmth and the feeling of a secure and loving presence.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes I have always been able to sense things were about to happen with my family and self, and also with others. Now the feelings are stronger.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes After waking up in the hospital, I shared it with my son and wife.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real I can still remember it and the feelings I had very vividly.
