Experience Description

When I was sixteen years old, I had an operation on my hip. During the procedure, I experienced being in a tunnel with a white light far away. The light was about the size of a half dollar and on my right; it was like a flashing Christmas light. I could see a red brick wall behind it. Above me, there was another green light. I could see the curvature of the ceiling, which was also made of red brick. To my left, there was a blue light flashing on and off, with a similar brownish-red brick wall behind it. Then, I woke up.

I woke up in a body cast, gasping for air because the cast had tightened around my chest. It preventing me from expanding my lungs to breathe. Calling for help, they rushed over and started cutting the cast below my rib cage so I could breathe. It was a horrible experience, and I thought I was going to die. I remember taking a deep breath as my parents were there. The doctors had pulled them aside and told them that I had trouble during the operation. I stopped breathing and turned purple, and they had to bring me back. The operation ended up lasting over four hours. My parents had to close their store and come to the hospital. That's about all I remember.

Years later, while watching TV and getting ready for bed, a show about near-death and out-of-body experiences came on National Geographic. I sat down to watch people describing their experiences and drawing pictures of them. When an 11-year-old girl drew a picture of exactly what I had seen, my jaw almost hit the floor. I couldn't believe that someone else saw the same place I had experienced.
