Experience Description

In September of 1972 I was driving a friend to Connecticut to his wedding. I was on the Connecticut Turnpike. The car's steering broke and I lost control of the car on the wet road. I was nineteen years old. The car spun around several times, striking the guardrails. I was then above the wrecked car looking at my body, I was being pulled toward a soft white light. It gave me a very wonderful feeling. I heard a voice talking to me from the white light to come with them. I very much wanted to go with them. I talked to them but not through voice. It was through mental communication. I wanted to go but I had an overwhelming feeling to go back. I told them I was too young to die and, even though the feeling I was experiencing was of warmth and love, I wanted to return. I remember returning to my body and opening my eyes and a man yelling to me and trying to pull open the door that had jammed in the wreck. Cars were moving past the wrecked car very fast. My hands were immobile so I fell to my side and kicked the door with both feet and it opened. I had hit the windshield with my head and bent the steering wheel trying to hang on but was okay and my friend, who was under the dash, was okay too. This NDE experience had a very positive effect on my life and I never feared death again. It was very positive for me.

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning Floating in front of the light.

Were your senses more vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? Yes, and the facts have been checked out

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? No Just Light.

Did you see any beings in your experience? I actually saw them

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes The light spoke. Did not recognize the voice. Could not see anything but the Light. Asked me to come and be part of the light.

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes Large white light that I was becoming part of.

Did scenes from your past come back to you? My past flashed before me, out of my control Family flashed in my head but it was the feeling of love and warmth that seemed to be the main focus.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? The Love and warmth of the light. There seems to be a place to go when you die. And the lack of fear from death.
