Experience Description As a teenager, I had reddish patches on my face. I also had breathing issues that disappeared after my mother put a seat in church. I suffered two attempted kidnappings. One time it was a white van that tried to get me during a whole summer. A second time was during an afternoon a man wanted me to deliver flowers to his wife. He tried to make me climb into his green car. I also had a bicycle accident in the countryside at age 13 years old. I had to face alone the death of my neighbor. I faced a lot of harassment of people who made fun of me and pointed at me while laughing as I passed by. To deal with this difficult childhood, like many young people, I indulged in marijuana. My consumption was rather mild during the week and a little more extensive on the weekend. I obviously hid my consumption from the whole family and used it only with my closest friends around me. It often happened during my consumption, that I would experience strange sensations. By sitting in an armchair, letting my head tilt back, while closing my eyes, I often had the impression of being wildly drawn into a tunnel at hypersonic speed. It was as if my soul was leaving my body and being propelled there. Every time I had this experience, I would open my eyes and hold on to my chair and take several seconds to recover. One evening, while my best friend and I were spending the evening at my uncle's, who was also a heavy smoker at the time. I looked at them, green with rage at not being able to smoke with them too. After a night out at my uncle's, I ordered my best friend to roll me a joint. He complied and as if to get revenge for ordering him around, he added some extra things to the content of the joint. So we stopped on a staircase at the top of a building. This was the entrance to my sister's house, who was sleeping peacefully inside. As I started to smoke my joint, I could feel my legs shaking and wanted to stop smoking. My friend pressured me to finish it, pretending that I had pressured him to roll it. So, I resumed smoking while sitting on the stairs. Again, I felt my legs shivering and shaking even when sitting. I was starting to turn white and sweat. My friend understood that I really had to stop and took the joint back. Feeling really bad, I decided to get up and go into the apartment. My friend followed me. I made it to the kitchen where I lost consciousness, collapsing on myself. During my fall, my friend had the reflex to protect the back of my head with his hand from hitting the furniture. According to him, my eyes rolled back, revealing only the facade of white as my body was convulsive. My friend panicked. He tried to make me come back to myself through a few mini-slaps to the face and calling me by my first name. This reaction had the immediate effect of waking up my sister, who was not aware of my consumption. He explained to my sister that I had not eaten and that I had complained all evening about not feeling very well. While he tried to justify himself to my sister, I must admit to having lived the best experience of my life. I have always had difficulty putting words to what I experienced, but I will try to express it as clearly as possible. I did not realized that I was falling or fainting. My next memory was of feeling myself, floating above my body. I couldn't see myself, I was in total darkness. Yet, I felt myself floating on the ceilingand in extreme lightness. I knew that my body was just below me. I heard all the conversations in the room, but no longer with my ears. It was as if the sound was an integral part of me. I wasn't afraid, curious, or anxious. I was floating in total well-being. Then, I heard my sister say to my friend, 'I'm going to call the firefighters!' I thought, 'No, not that! I'm going to have to justify my tendencies.' Suddenly, I reintegrated into my body and reopened my eyes. I needed a ten minutes and a good meal to completely regain my senses. I kept my experience secret for several years before being able to tell anyone about it. I thought that people would think I was crazy and that no one would believe me. Then, I came across the book 'Life after Life' by Raymond Moody. Then, I understood this gift that I had gone through. I did not see a tunnel. Unfortunately, I did not meet a being of light or a person in my experience. But this experience changed my life. Today, I am no longer afraid of dying and I think that death is not the end. I now believe in God and tell myself that he has a plan for each of us.
