Experience Description

The dentist terrifies me. He had given me valium in a prior visit, which did not help.

The dentist had been 'experimenting' with what was needed for me to be able to go through procedures. This visit he was using laughing gas. As I was under, I could see my body and everything in the room including the dentist and her assistant. It seemed as if I were floating over my body, the room, and the procedure. I was trying to figure out what was going on.

Next, I was standing in a completely dark room. I couldn't tell the walls from the floor or ceiling. Then all of the sudden, it was as if I had a rope tied around my waist while I was gradually being pulled towards a pure light in a dark robe. I was able to reach to my right and could grab a wall, yet I could not see it. As I was being slowly pulled. I kept saying, 'I am not ready' as flashes of my children ran through my mind. I had so much more to do for them to get them ready for this world. I could tell it was not Male or Female. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

As quickly all of that was happening, I felt overwhelmed by anxiety. This experience was abruptly ended when I heard, 'Oh no! He's going to pop!' I immediately sat up and puked. Then, I hopped up, out of the chair and went straight over to hold onto a wall. It took me a few seconds to feel like I was not dying.

This experience was all very surreal for me. I haven't told many people this story, but I can tell you that it has changed me forever. It has given me a pleasant, safe feeling knowing that when it is my time to go, there is something safe for my soul. Knowing that there is a grand scheme for everyone and everything is very comforting. I know that sounds a lot like 'God' or whatever we call the being I saw, but I know there is a sense of comfort that has come over my life. I was able to get that second chance. I now feel confident that my children have been raised properly and that my 'job' is complete.

This instance in life has changed my perspective knowing there is nothing to fear. Strange but comforting.

At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Uncertain While under general anesthesia. Other: I was under general anesthesia. I was out of my body as they gave me too much gas. While under, I could tell the dentist and her helper were extremely concerned with my health.

How do you consider the content of your experience? Both pleasant AND distressing

Did you feel separated from your body? No. I clearly left my body and existed outside it

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than norma. I could SEE and FEEL everything that was going on around me.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? In the middle of it

Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning. It felt like time stood still.

Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. It was like I could hear/see/feel everything all at once. I can't explain how that makes sense, but I was everywhere and nowhere all at the same time.

Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? No

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Yes It was more like a dark hallway. I couldn't SEE the spots where the walls met the ceiling or floor, but when pulled I grabbed the wall. It was there.

Did you see any beings in your experience? No

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? No

Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin

Did you see an unearthly light? Yes I saw a figure of light. This was a form of a person-like body but it was all-light with a dark robe on. I couldn't tell if it was Male or Female. However, I could tell it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. That was the feeling I got.

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? No

What emotions did you feel during the experience? I felt despair, anxious, nervous, and concerned. I was fearful that my children would be raised without their father figure in their lives. It felt as everything to me.

Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Incredible peace or pleasantness

What is your religion now? I do not know if I believe in a higher power. The being I met was not necessarily God as taught to everyone. It was something though.

During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? Uncertain I felt as if I were going to die at that moment. I was going to be taken away to another place.

During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? Yes I knew that it was taking me away from my life on Earth. There was nothing spoken TO ME, I could just tell.
