I was suffering from an attack of kidney stones for the third time that week, and a new doctor came in and said, 'I'm going to give you the maximum pain reliever that you can take, for your weight: 250 mg of a mixture of morphine and Demerol.' The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) came in a minute later and injected it into my hip. I thought it was wrong for a CNA to give injections, but I didn't question it. The needle looked a lot more full than usual. I had been praying vary hard, because twice previously the pain had stopped during my recitation of the 'Our Father' prayer; when I had said the words, 'Give me this day, my daily bread.' But this time it wasn't working. A moment after the injection, I was suddenly in front of a great Light. It had to have been God! It was so powerful that no words can describe it. The closest I can come is to say it was like being suddenly placed a few feet from the Sun; but instead of feeling heat, you feel Love, infinite Love. The Love emanated out in all directions in slow, gentle rays of light. Never can I forget it. Thirty years later, it's still what I mostly think about. A vision of a man appeared down to the right of the powerful Light. I presumed it was Jesus. He looked like he does in most paintings. He was wearing a white robe and was extending his hands out to greet me. Behind me, I felt the whole world carrying on - past, present, and future. I looked down at my current time period on the Earth, and wasn't too interested. I did feel curious about past settlers who had come across the Atlantic, and I became aware of three little ships on the sea which I started moving towards. They could have been Columbus' ships but I stopped because I didn't want to leave the presence of this Love. Then the Loving Power pointed me towards a city; it looked like New York City. It had that city's profile, with the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building, but not the World Trade Center Towers. I wondered why God was showing me this, and a voice telepathically said, 'I have a Plan.' The city was grey, and it was smothered in what looked like a fog. I presumed it was meant to symbolize any city, but on the day of 9/11, I realized that I had seen the future. What I had thought was fog, was dust. After this, the light disappeared and I felt like I was naked in a sand storm. There was a terrible sound, and I felt I was being crushed in a vice. My earthly eyes opened and I realized the sand storm was just me feeling my skin again, the noise was just me hearing again, and the crush was just the two thin bed sheets that had been laid over me. I sat up on the side of the bed and said, 'What was that? Take me back there!' And that has been my prayer ever since.
