Experience Description It was April 4,2013. I was unable to move when I woke up that morning. I felt hot and extremely heavy physically, mentally, and emotionally. I thought it was because I finally started my grieving process of losing my mom, brother, and aunt. My mom and brother had crossed over the same day, 12 hours apart in Oct 2012. My aunt passed over in March 2013. I had so much responsibility and all the arrangements for all three of those incidents. I was home alone for the first time after all this. I stayed in bed until I could find enough strength to get up. My knee had been hurting severely the week before while taking care of business with my aunt's passing. I had a thermometer in my nightstand so I took my temperature and it was 102.7 F. I thought it was too high of a fever for a cold or flu. I got up and took some medication to try to lower my temperature. Then I sat around my home all day, trying to get myself together because I had a hot date that night. I managed to drive myself to the store to get orange juice and chicken noodle soup. I got home and was so weak, I called my date and told him we need to reschedule. However, he said he could come over and we could watch TV together. I sat through the premier episode lying on his lap because I was so weak. He left shortly afterwards and I walked him to the elevator. I got back to the apartment and felt like I was about to pass out. I called my cousin, let her know I made her executor of my affairs, and told her where the documents were. She told me to get off the phone immediately and call 911. As I was getting ready to call 911, I started to black out. I hit "9" to dial the doorman off my building. When he answered, I said, 'Derrick call 911 because I’m losing consciousness and need help immediately.' Next, I felt Derrick slapping me on my face to wake me up. Then my room filled with EMTs, police, and the fire department. They took my blood pressure and it was 74/43 BPM. Before I lost consciousness, I noticed they were all in my bedroom and walking on my white carpet. I asked, 'Do you all have your shoes on my carpet?' That literally broke the silence and laughter erupted. It was needed. They got me on the stretcher and were doing all kinds of tests to send while on their way to the emergency room. The police told them they would provide an escort because they didn’t know if I would even make it to the hospital. We made it to the hospital and I was still awake and talking. I was rushed into the emergency room as they started to ask me questions concerning my health. Then I was told that I had sepsis shock and that all of my organs were shutting down. They asked me a series of questions to see what was causing this. I told them that whatever it was, the source was from having surgery issues in my right knee. They assured me that it couldn’t be that. But, they did feel my knee and then drew out some of the fluid in the knee. They saw that it was completely infected. A doctor came in and asked if I had family close by because I wouldn’t make it through the night. He told me that he wasn’t sure how I was even speaking to him because my liver, heart, and both kidneys were massively damaged and in various stages of shutting down. The doctor was unsure how I was still conscious. I felt it was my soul keeping me conscious. Strangely, I literally felt like I was OK, even though I knew I wasn’t. I was being prepared for surgery to drain the infection from my knee. Meanwhile, I told my god-sister to go to the cafeteria and get me something to eat. She said they told her that I couldn't have anything to eat because I was being prepared for emergency surgery. I told her again to go get me whatever they have in the cafeteria to eat. She came back with chicken wings, snuck them in, and I ate them. (You’ll understand why this was important later on in the story.) During this time, I told the staff I had a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate order), but I changed it. I wanted to be resuscitated because I knew that I would live and I would be just fine. They took me back to the operating room. The next thing I know, I look up to see my blood pressure was 43/23. Then I saw my spirit/essence rising from the gurney. In real time, I watched myself dying. For a split second, I was disoriented. I didn't understand what was going on, and I wanted to get up. Then In understood that I was dying. I felt surrounded by peace. I felt no angst or fear at all. Then, I was looking above the hospital room seeing the doctors and nurses moving around. I could see their faces. But more significantly, I saw energy moving and I could hear individual voices. but I could see my body lying there. The peace surrounding me was like the Bible says, the peace that passes all understanding had engulfed me. I sat there for a while and enjoyed every bit of that feeling. Then, I told myself, 'Oh, this is not your time you have to go back' and I got back in my body. The doctor was looking into my eyes as I said, 'I’m back.' He asked me, 'What did you say?' I said again, 'I’m back.' I asked him if we could pray. He told me that, 'We do not have time.' I repeated, 'Let’s just pray for a second.' I whispered a prayer saying, 'God I commit my body into your hands; do what you do.' The next thing I know I’m waking up April 12 because I was in a coma for over a week. While I was in a coma, my deceased mom was with me. I spent my time with her. She was giving me many pearls of wisdom to go by for the rest of this earthly life. I can’t remember them in my brain but I carry them in my mind and my soul knows them well. I've been able to call upon that wisdom during my energy healing phase. When I woke up, I was hooked up to all the life support that was sustaining my body. I heard the doctors say to my cousin, that most times they come back to say goodbye. Hearing that, it was like a shock went through my body and I began to fully wake up. My arms were strapped to the bed to keep me from moving because I had so many tubes and different lines attached to me. I began to wiggle my fingers to signal to get me something to write with. They gave me a pad and pen. I wrote, 'I told you I wasn't going anywhere.' The room erupted in praise. As my body was stabilizing, I heard the doctor saying to my cousin, 'He’s still not out of the woods yet because he needs a kidney, liver, and heart.' I looked over and told my cousin, 'Don’t listen to them, I’ll be just fine.' Every destroyed organ came back instantly, as if nothing had taken place. Then I heard God say, 'You were healed physically instantly but the rest is up to you.' I knew he meant that for the energetic healing, I had to do the work. Throughout that first day, I was reorienting to earthly life. My barber came to the hospital to give me a haircut on April 13th because my birthday was April 14th. I had my birthday party in the hospital. I got out the hospital on April 16th, as if nothing had happened. Every hospital test came back that every organ had been 100% restored. They sent me home with an IV line of antibiotics that went into my heart as a precaution because they’d never seen a miraculous healing like mine. I had an appointment Thursday, April 18, 2013 to see the infectious disease doctor. When I got to the office, he turned white when he saw me walk in. He told the receptionist that he’d be taking some extra time with me and let patients know he’s running behind schedule. We sat and talked. He told me that he’d given up on me on like April 10 because it was an impossible situation and my family wouldn’t take me off life support. They were afraid that my brain would swell but it never did. He then told me that my body couldn’t digest nutrients, so it rejected the feeding tubes. The only food I had since arriving at the hospital was the chicken wings that I ate when I got to the hospital on April 4th. By all definitions, I truly shouldn’t be here. Now, I have been committed to doing the energetic healing needed. I was a SGL-(same gender loving man) all my life but was never ok with it until this experience. When I woke from the coma, I knew I was loved and there was nothing wrong with my sexuality. It has been a journey to heal but I've done the work and I’m healthy - physically, mentally, and emotionally. Background Information: Gender: Male Date NDE Occurred: 4/4/2013 NDE Elements: At the time of your experience, was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes. Sepsis shock. Life threatening event, but not clinical death How do you consider the content of your experience? Both pleasant AND distressing Did you feel separated from your body? Yes I could hear what doctors were saying while trying to revive me. While in the coma, I saw my little cousin lay his head on me. I could see that he was in great despair so I took my hand and patted his head. I saw this happening but wasn’t awake. My family verified that this happened. I clearly left my body and existed outside it How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal. I knew I was absolutely perfect just the way I was. I knew that my sickness was a result of me not loving my truth; my soul was tired from the lies. At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? When I realized I was out my body. Were your thoughts speeded up? Incredibly fast Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning. I just had this feeling of freedom. There was no time or space. Were your senses More vivid than usual? Incredibly more vivid Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I saw things as energy moving. I didn’t see people's faces but I could hear their distinctive voices. The easiest way I can describe it is I knew that the eyes are not really the thing that sees. I saw my mom clearly but she was deceased. It was all happening in real time. There’s nothing that separates us, because the real for the spirit world is much more vast then this lived experience. Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. It wasn’t that I heard with my ears. I heard things within me. Did you seem to be aware of things going on elsewhere? No Did you pass into or through a tunnel? No Did you see any beings in your experience? No Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? No Did you see, or feel surrounded by, a brilliant light? A light clearly of mystical or other-worldly origin Did you see an unearthly light? No Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? A clearly mystical or unearthly realm. It wasn’t a place; it was a state of being. I was there with everyone in the hospital, but I had a sense of being somewhere else that was beautiful. But it wasn’t a place. What emotions did you feel during the experience? I felt great love and peace; excitement. Complete glee. Did you have a feeling of peace or pleasantness? Incredible peace or pleasantness Did you have a feeling of joy? Incredible joy Did you feel a sense of harmony or unity with the universe? I felt united or one with the world Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? Everything about myself or others. I inherently knew why I was the way I was. When when I awaken from the coma, I vacillating back and forth from this existence to the eternal existence for several hours. I could see the pain on people's faces. I could hear thoughts. I told them what to do concerning implant decisions. When I was out my body, I had access to everything I desired to know. As I stated before, the questions and answers were coming in at the same time. My gifts heightened afterwards. I know certain things that are going to happen. I know when people have illnesses before they are diagnosed. I can easily sense things in the energetic and spiritual world easily. Did scenes from your past come back to you? No Did scenes from the future come to you? No Did you come to a border or point of no return? No God, Spiritual and Religion: What was your religion prior to your experience? Christian- Other Christian I was brought up Pentecostal Apostolic. I was in a place of decisions and wasn’t currently a member at any church at the time but was regularly attending an amazing congregation. But I was questioning everything I was taught Have your religious practices changed since your experience? Yes I no longer believe in a physical heaven or hell. I read and understand the Bible vastly differently than before. I'm not judgmental. I know that when we die we all return to love. I understand there’s no judgment whatsoever when we cross over. What is your religion now? Other or several faiths. I’m currently someone who I would say practices interfaith. I still believe in Jesus but nothing like I was taught. I have a more global approach. All faiths and religions are pathways to connect you to who you are. Nothing outside yourself can “save” you. I am someone who knows that everyone has a part of the whole. I discard no one’s beliefs. Did your experience include features consistent with your earthly beliefs? Content that was entirely not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience. I grew up a Christian Pentecostal Apostolic and was in the ministry for years. I knew there was no hell. I knew that hell and heaven were earthly states of consciousness. I knew that all religions were just trying to do its best to bring people home to their authentic self. I knew that I was loved and am love itself. These were extremely different. Many people would labeled me a heretic now from where I come from. Did you have a change in your values and beliefs because of your experience? Yes I’m no longer religious Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? No Did you see deceased or religious spirits? No Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)? No During your experience, did you gain information about premortal existence? Yes We are much more than our body. During your experience, did you gain information about universal connection or oneness? Yes Absolutely! I intrinsically knew that we are all one connect and connected. I saw that my energy and the docs and nurses energy were one making up this situation. I saw how their energies affected me and mine them. Before I died, I had this moment where this certain African American doctor came in my room. I told the nurses to get him out immediately. It was odd because I am an African-American male. But I was vacating between the spirit world in this world. I knew that he had an energy opposing to my energy; I knew I would live and he knew that I wouldn’t make it through this. Because of that opposing energy, I told him he was prohibited from touching my body. They told me that he was the only doctor that could help me and tap my knee. I told them absolutely not. It took them over 30 minutes to get me to let him come in just to tap my knee. I was vehemently against him touching me. During your experience, did you gain information about the existence of God? Uncertain I had this understanding that the whole is God. I knew that we are a part of this God system. I saw that God breaks his Godself off as me and you but we’re all tied together, perfectly woven together, and that’s God. Concerning our Earthly lives other than Religion: During your experience, did you gain special knowledge or information about your purpose? No During your experience, did you gain information about the meaning of life? Yes I knew that we are here to express our uniqueness and when we don’t, our souls become tired and we become ill. All illness is a result of disconnection from the soul. During your experience, did you gain information about an afterlife? Yes I hope I’m reading this correctly. But I knew that life continues after death. I knew that we are freer without the body. Did you gain information about how to live our lives? No During your experience, did you gain information about life's difficulties, challenges and hardships? No During your experience, did you gain information about love? Yes I knew that I am love. I didn’t just feel loved, I knew that I was love itself and that everyone was as well. What life changes occurred in your life after your experience? Large changes in my life. I left the church completely and haven’t been back. I feel pulled to not teach what I know metaphysically. I see The Bible as a tool and not at all literal like I once did. I’m now an openly SGL man with a great partner. Have your relationships changed specifically because of your experience? I had to distance myself from others because they were not aligned energetically with me any longer. I had to distance myself from many family members because of their dogmatic beliefs and tell me I’m going to hell. I also am only interested in deep conversations. My relationships are much more meaningful and love-driven rather than fearful. After the NDE: Was the experience difficult to express in words? Yes There’s a knowing there that goes beyond anything in this realm. The answer and questions are coming in at the same time; if that makes sense. I knew that everything was perfectly matched in this holographic universe we live in. I knew that everyone was deserving of love no matter what they’d done. I knew the reason I did anything bad was a result in my disconnection from my true self. Disconnection causes mass-suffering and all issues we have in life. I knew that if we could get people to return home to themselves, they’d heal in miraculous ways. How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experienc.e I know that the spirit world is more real than this one. I felt like I woke up from a dream when I died. Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes I see, hear, and know things intrinsically. I have this electricity that runs through me when I pray and I have great abilities to heal myself and others. Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? The live aspect is the greatest lesson and takeaway. Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes It took a couple years to really share. Some people don’t believe me and some do. My close inner circle has witnessed great insight from my experience Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened? Experience was definitely real. I was in awe, but also in much pain. I really hated what happened for awhile because of the responsibility I felt. I wish I had stayed there as opposed to coming back. I had to deal with the pain of the other three deaths that had happened. It was a very dark time for me for several years. What do you believe about the reality of your experience now? Experience was definitely real. I’m grateful for it. I see why I had to go that way. I always knew I was called to speak to people concerning life. I’ve always encouraged others. I had gifts from childhood but now they’re much more heightened. At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? Yes When I pray, I can reach a place where I feel elevated above this world. I can channel messages from The Divine. When that happens, I can feel and sense that oneness like I did when I was dead. Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experience? Think I wrote maybe too much and I hope I did a good job of explaining myself. Are there any other questions that we could ask to help you communicate your experience? I think this was pretty thorough. c4vn0mp_nde
